What is an Rx snorkel mask?
An Rx snorkel mask is a snorkeling or diving mask fitted with prescription lenses matched to your vision. Instead of struggling to see underwater or trying to wear contacts in the ocean, you get clear, corrected vision built directly into the mask. Our Rx masks are available for both nearsighted and farsighted prescriptions.
Can I use an Rx dive mask for scuba diving as well as snorkeling?
Yes. Every Rx dive mask in our range uses HD tempered glass lenses and is rated for scuba diving up to 100 ft (30 m). Whether you are snorkeling on the surface or on a full scuba dive, the mask performs the same way.
What is the difference between an Rx scuba mask and a regular dive mask?
A regular dive mask has plain flat lenses. An Rx scuba mask has optically ground lenses matched to your prescription so you can see clearly underwater without contacts or glasses. The frame, seal, and strap are identical to a standard mask. The only difference is the lenses.
Do I need a nearsighted or farsighted Rx mask?
Check the SPH column on your glasses or contact lens prescription. If the number has a minus sign (e.g. -3.00), you are nearsighted and need a minus lens Rx mask. Will my Rx mask lenses match my glasses prescription exactly?
Not exactly, and that is intentional. Water creates natural magnification, so wearing your full glasses prescription in an Rx dive mask often feels too strong. We reduce the lens strength by around 0.50 diopters to keep vision feeling natural and comfortable underwater. Our lens calculator on each product page works this out for you automatically.
What prescription strengths do your Rx masks cover?
Nearsighted Rx masks are available from -1.00 to -9.00 depending on the model. Farsighted Rx masks are available in whole steps from +1.00 to +5.00. Each product page shows the exact range available for that mask. If your prescription falls outside the range shown, contact us and we will find the best option for you.
Can I have different lens strengths for each eye in my Rx mask?
Yes. You select the left and right lens strength separately at checkout, so asymmetric prescriptions are fully supported across all our Rx masks.
Which Rx snorkel mask is right for me?
It depends on your face size and prescription range. The Rx Obsidian fits medium to large faces and covers the widest prescription range, making it our most popular Rx snorkel mask.
